You laugh, you frown, you concentrate. And over time, those expressions
leave their mark upon your face. Until today there wasn't
a lot you could do about it. Today there's a solution.
A simple, non-surgical procedure that can dramatically reduce
even your toughest wrinkle within days.
What is Anti-Wrinkle treatment
The anti-wrinkle treatment substance is a natural, purified protein that
relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles creating a smoother, rejuvenated
and more youthful appearance. Although the substance is derived
from a bacterium, as are many of our other commonly used medicines,
it is able to be used for treatment
because it is applied
in extremely small amounts and when applied properly does not spread
outside the immediate muscles into which it is injected.
How it works?
A tiny amount of the wrinkle treatment substance is injected into the
muscle that creates the dynamic (or movement) wrinkle. When
the substance is injected into a muscle, it blocks the nerve
impulse from reaching that area, and as a result, the muscle
relaxes. As the muscle relaxes,
the dynamic wrinkle overlying
the muscle is smoothed away.
The anti-wrinkle treatment substance is administered using
a very fine sterile disposable syringe and a fine-gauge needle
to inject into the muscle. The number of injections
required varies depending upon what part of the face is being
treated.
How does it feel?
A local anaesthetic cream is applied to the skin and ice is used
to minimize the discomfort. Most people find the treatment quick
and easy and not too uncomfortable.
There may be an initial minor sting for the first few seconds
at the injection site. The needles used are tiny micro needles
and once the injection is complete, there is usually no discomfort.
The patient will experience very mild discomfort lasting for
only a few seconds as each muscle is injected. There is no
pain at all afterwards, at the injection site. Some people can have
a mild sensation of “fullness” or “pressure” for
a while afterwards and some get a headache. This is usually
easily relieved with panadol, but is always not necessary.
Possible side effects
The anti-wrinkle treatment substance has been used for more
than 10 years for medical conditions involving muscle spasm.
Its
use for
cosmetic purposes
is
more recent and growing. Allergy and complications are rare
but can
occur. The commonest complication results from neighbouring
muscle weakness causing partial eyelid droop or temporary
double vision. It is not recommended in pregnancy. For a
small group
of clients with a history of muscle disorders the treatment
will not be suitable and so any background medical condition
or current medication should be discussed with your doctor.
How long does it last?
The initial effect usually occurs within 3 days, with the maximum muscle relaxation reached within 1-2 weeks, and lasting approximately 3 months. After this, you should return for a repeat dose to maintain the effect.
A small percentage of clients show very little response to
the first treatment and may require repeat treatment. Another
small group of clients become resistant to the toxin with
repeated treatments and so have less benefit.
