Pre Care

Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for 3-4 weeks before and after laser hair removal treatment. Inform the clinician if sunburn has occurred any time during the course.

Avoid fake tan application for 1-2 weeks before treatment.

Waxing, tweezing, bleaching, electrolysis or the use of depilatory creams is to be avoided for 6 weeks prior to each treatment, however shaving is permitted.

You must shave the area either the day before or on the day of the treatment.

If you feel your pain threshold is low, you can take two Panadol tablets 30-45 minutes prior to your treatment.

If you are having your bikini area treated, please wear white or light colored g-string underwear.

Depending on your skin type, a test patch may be required a week before commencing your treatment to assess suitability.

If required, a topical anesthetic cream (EMLA) may be applied to the area one hour prior to treatment. This is not included in the cost of the treatment. EMLA cream can be purchased over the counter from your pharmacist, or purchased from The Clinic at $70.00 for a 30g tube. Please arrive one hour prior to your appointment if you require EMLA application at The Clinic.

Post Care

You may experience mild sunburn like sensation to the treated area that will subside within 24 hours. The use of a cool compress can aid in alleviating any discomfort.

Avoid direct sun exposure for 3-4 weeks after treatment. Use a broad spectrum 30+ sunscreen containing Zinc Oxide. Always wear a hat outdoors if face has been treated.

Icepacks or aloe vera / after-sun lotion can be applied post treatment for a soothing effect and to reduce redness.

If crusting occurs, a moisturiser such as Sorbolene or Vaseline may be used to keep the area moist. DO NOT PICK the crusting. Allow the crusts to fall off naturally.

Contact The Clinic if there is any indication of blisters or infection.

Avoid hot showers or spa baths for 24 hours following your treatment. Treat the area gently and do not rub with a facecloth or towel. Moisturisers may be applied if the skin feels dry.

Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours following your treatment as perspiration may irritate the area.

Make-up can be applied post treatment if desired, preferably a mineral-based product to assist with healing.

Do not shave the area for a few days after treatment as the skin may be sensitive.

Avoid using active skincare products for 7 days post laser hair removal to the face.

Following treatment some hairs may fall out. You may notice that the hair appears to grow one to two weeks after treatment. This process is called ‘ejection’, whereby the intact hair shafts are moved out and released from the base of the follicle. These hairs are not growing but simply ‘clearing out’ and the process can take up to two weeks.
