What is Derma Filler J?
Derma Filler J Injectable Gel is a new, non-animal sourced hyaluronic acid dermal filler that provides smooth, long-lasting correction of facial wrinkles and folds.
There are 2 formulations;
Derma Filler J ULTRA Injectable Gel is used in contouring and volumising facial wrinkles and folds. It can also be used to create definition and pouting of the lips.
Derma Filler J ULTRA PLUS Injectable Gel is more highly cross-linked, resulting in a more robust formulation used for volumising and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles. It can also be used to increase the volume of the lips.
Is Derma Filler J approved in Australia?
Derma Filler J ULTRA Injectable Gel is approved for the filling of medium size and deep wrinkles of the face by injection into the mid dermis and to create definition and pouting of the lips.
Derma Filler J ULTRA PLUS Injectable Gel is approved for the
filling of medium size and deep wrinkles of the face by injection into the
mid and/or deep dermis and to increase the volume of the lips.
What does ‘cross-linked’ mean?
Cross-linking refers to a chemical process in which individual chains of HA are chemically bound or ‘cross-linked’ together, transforming liquid HA into a soft solid or ‘gel’.The firmness of the gel depends on the degree of ‘cross-linking’ and the body absorbs cross-linked HA more slowly, which results in longer duration of effect.
What do dermal fillers do?
As the body ages, skin loses elasticity and volume. Dermal fillers are placed below the skin’s surface to diminish the depth of facial folds and wrinkles.
Possible side effects
Injections of Derma Filler J may cause some of the side effects discussed below. Although the risk of developing a serious complication is small, your doctor will monitor you closely, and, should a complication occur, they will use their best medical judgment to do whatever is necessary to treat the problem.
Side effects associated with the use of Derma Filler J Injectable Gel are most
commonly temporary injection site reactions, which may last up to a week. Patients
may experience injection site redness, pain, firmness/hardness, swelling, lumps/bumps,
bruising, itching, discolouration and poor or weak filling effect. The following
side effects have also been reported with dermal fillers and therefore should
be taken into account; glabellar necrosis, abscess formation, granuloma and
hypersensitivity.
If you have previously had a permanent dermal filler implanted you should notify
your doctor prior to receiving injections of Derma Filler J.
If you experience any discomfort as a result of treatment, you should notify
your doctor immediately. If necessary, appropriate treatment may be prescribed.
The possibility of unknown side effects exists. The safety of Derma Filler J Injectable Gel for use during pregnancy, in breastfeeding females, in patients under 18 years and in patients with increased susceptibility to keloid formation and hypertrophic scarring has not been established.
How long will it last
Over time, Derma Filler J is gradually and naturally degraded in the human body. The effect of Derma Filler J Injectable Gel generally lasts for six months or longer. Follow-up treatments are needed to maintain the effects of Derma Filler J.
Can I go straight back to work after treatment?
Yes but for the first treatment it is probably better to
schedule your appointment for the end of the day and preferably
the end of
the week.
