Foundation is the base that makeup sits upon and like skincare, there’s no ‘one size fits all’ regime. At The Clinic, we work exclusively with Jane Iredale across our cosmetics offering because it’s a brand whose products work ‘behind the scenes’ to improve the health of your skin. Jane Iredale foundations are all made from minerals, they are paraben and preservative free, cruelty free, look good, feel good and are good for the skin. At The Clinic, we’re all about a less is more philosophy so Jane Iredale products perfectly compliment our approach to great skin. We stole five minutes of celebrity makeup artist Samantha Lee’s time to teach us how to create the perfect base for three of our most common skin concerns - breakouts, ageing and pigmentation.“For all three skin types, I would start with The Cleansing Pad by The Clinic, followed by the D20 Hydration Spray by Jane Iredale and then finish with The Moisturiser,” she said.“The reason for these three products is to cleanse and hydrate, simply and effectively. They’re suitable for all skin types and really plump the skin to create a great base for foundation application”.Lightweight Coverage for Breakout Prone Skin: “The key here is not to overdo it. I warm up the Dream Tint Tinted Moisturiser with my fingers then apply over the face. It’s a beautiful soft coverage without weighing the skin down. I would then apply concealer only to blemishes – this is where so many people make the mistake of applying another layer of foundation, you don’t need to layer it on, you just need to cover problem spots. I then finish with the PurePressed Mineral Powder which is like an instant filter on your skin”.Everyday Coverage for Mature Aged Skin: “I would apply Smooth Affair Primer through the centre of the face which really buffs out fine lines. Next, I would use Liquid Minerals Foundation, starting in the centre and moving outwards. This particular foundation works well when applied with fingers as it heats up on the skin and really sinks into the skin. For oilier skin types, I would finish with the PurePressed Mineral Powder but for a fresh, dewy glow, the Liquid Minerals on its own is perfect”. Full Coverage for Hyperpigmentation: “After The Moisturiser, I would apply Smooth Affair Primer to really prime the skin for foundation application. Focusing on the T Zone Area, I would then massage any excess primer into the rest of the face. I love the Glow Time BB Cream for heavier coverage as the finish is velvety and soft but for a BB Cream, it really does offer creamy, full coverage. Start in the centre and work outwards to avoid buildup around the hairline, then mattify the look with the PurePressed Mineral Powder to ensure long-lasting results”.Not any of these skin types?
