Dermablading

Full Face

Exfoliation

40 mins

Dermablading is our term for Dermaplaning, a manual form of exfoliation using a small blade to scrape away dead skin cells from the epidermis to reveal the brighter skin beneath. Dermablading is also useful to remove unwanted vellus hair on the face such as 'peach fuzz' around the neck and chin.

The treatment experience

We start with a thorough cleanse of the face. The treatment is then performed by one of our trained doctors or nurses, using a sterile scalpel to stroke along the skin, in a way similar to shaving. The whole treatment takes 40 minutes.

It's best for

  • Sensitive, dull or ageing skins
  • Immediately smooth and supple complexion.
  • Creating a flawless base for makeup application.

"Always very lovely and professional staff. Wonderful at explaining what they are doing, the benefits and how your skin is going. I love the Dermablading treatment. Always a pleasure going to The Clinic!"

Pre and post care

What can I expect after my treatment?

Fresh, glowing skin! There is no downtime with dermaplaning. Immediately after the treatment, your skin will feel really smooth and any peach fuzz will be gone. Makeup will go on smoothly and beautifully.

What precautions should I take pre and post?

There are no special requirements for Dermaplaning. You can apply makeup, exercise and bathe as usual after your treatment.

We always recommend the use of sunscreen to prevent sun damage to the skin. Sunscreen with SPF 30 or above should be used daily. If you are under the sun for prolonged periods of time, sunscreen needs to be reapplied at least once every two hours.

Common questions

What are the benefits?
  • Increased circulation and skin radiance
  • Better penetration of skin care products
  • Smooth and flawless makeup application

As Dermaplaning does not use any active ingredients, it is a great treatment for sensitive skins, and safe to use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What are the risks?

At The Clinic, we employ only doctors and nurses to ensure the highest quality of care. Dermaplaning is extremely safe when performed by trained professionals. On rare occasions, slight nicks can occur in the skin, which is why we don't recommend this treatment for people with acne.

Despite what many think, hair re-growth that is darker or thicker is not a risk of Dermaplaning. This is because the hair on the face that Dermaplaning targets is vellus hair, not terminal hair.

How many treatments will I need?

Results are immediate and evident after a single treatment. Your skin will be noticeably smoother and soft to the touch. For exfoliation purposes - best results come from 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart. For hair removal - repeat treatments will be required depending on the re-growth cycle of your hair.

Is it painful?

You may experience a tingling or tightening sensation in the skin, similar to that of regular shaving, but no pain.
